On Saturday, October 3rd we had between 1350-1400 registered riders come out for the Wish100 Bicycle Rally! It blew our expectations of the inaugural year out of the water! See below for photos from this great event. Thank you to all the riders who pledged to help Make-A-Wish Foundation!

Bring your friends and family out to the patios of Zen and Cafe Gecko to cheer the riders on!
Cyclists
What?  Bicyclists raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and will be riding 100K or 10, 30 and 45-60 mile routes. The riders on the 60-mile ride will come up Windhaven hill where a rest stop will be set up for them to stop and take a break.
When? Saturday, October 3rd.
Where? Austin Ranch, Windhaven & Saintsbury intersection 10:30am – 12:30pm.
Why? The riders have pledged to help Make-A-Wish Foundation grant wishes for children battling life-threatening medical conditions. What an awesome cause!

Cowboys vs. Giants

OK, we don’t have Jerry’s punt-blocking Jumbo Screen, but you can come out and watch the game at the Dry Creek Lodge this Sunday, September 20th. The game starts at 7 (like you didn’t know). There will be a drawing for Cowboys giveaways, and free munchies! See you on the deck in front of the Big Screens. Cowboys attire greatly encouraged.

Lost Dog

Our “dog” is missing. The Austin Ranch billboard on Parker was the victim of a dognapping. Apparently some very crafty thieves were crazy enough to scale our billboard and hijack our pup. They even left the rope. My hands sweat at the thought of climbing that billboard (I don’t do heights).

So if you see our doggy, or have any information on the heist, please let us know. The dog responds to “Rex”.

McSwiggan’s Menu

The rain was coming down pretty good yesterday around 5:30, and the sky was dark and gloomy. Feeling a little blue, I tried to think what would bring some sunshine into my day. I know! How about a drink at McSwiggan’s?

After getting moderately drenched, I took a seat and ordered a drink from the lovely Marley (Jameson Gold of course). Because the storm had knocked the satellite TV out, they had Braveheart playing. I tell you there’s nothing better than sitting at a pub on a rainy day with a glass of whiskey while Braveheart is playing. Of course I realize that I should have had Scotch whiskey instead of Irish whiskey, but that’s a whole other argument.

Marley then showed me the great new menu at McSwiggan’s. The menu featured salads, clam “chowdah”, Philly cheese steak, and burgers; along with the traditional fare of corned beef, fish ‘n chips, and shepherd’s pie. I was in a bit of a hurry to get home before the Steelers game started; otherwise I would have chowed down on a burger. I’ll make it a point to try their food next week and give a full report.

Sláinte!

Here are some shots from June’s pool party at Austin Ranch. Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the fun! We hope to have even more events in the future.

Went back on Friday night to try Jameson Gold with an old friend. Atmosphere was nice, and the crowd a bit older than the Zen/Gecko scene (which was good for us). They had baseball on the televisions, and a decent music selection that wasn’t overpowering.
